The Founders

IDAH & WENNIE

Benjamin Wennie Ngungkpan Jr, second of 6 boys born and raise in a zinc shack, in Gaye town Sinkor, Old Road, from a humble background, onto the union of Mr. Benjamin W. Ngungkpan-Bishop Sr and Mrs. Kuluboh D. S. Ngungkpan-Bishop in Montserrado county, Monrovia Liberia. I attended the St. Peter Lutheran elementary and junior high school 14th street sinkor, AME Zion High School on Benson Street and graduated from the Wells Hairston High school in Monrovia, Liberia Michelin street.

I moved to Quebec Canada in early 2000 as a French speaking immigrant to a small-town call Granby and later moved to the province of Alberta, the city of Calgary, where my family and me settled till today. I’m luckily married to Mrs. Idah Romo-Ngungkpan from Bulawayo the city of kings and queens Matabeleland Zimbabwe. We are blessed with 6 children, 4 girls, 2 boys and 3 grand kids, who are in Canada and the United Kingdom respectively.

I ‘ve been to 56 countries, speak 4 languages namely, French,English, Lingala from the DRC and Kiswahili from East Africa, which according to the founding fathers of African unity should have been the common language of the entire continent, something am really proud of.

Together with my wife, we have travelled to many countries on vacation and personal trips. Our believe and conviction that Africa is the future, and we should do our part in contributing to the economic development of the continent in our own small way, prompted us to start the building of our 1-bedroom villas in Marshall, situated behind the famous, John Gbeseh beach in Liberia call (@-D-EDGE). When completed, we will have the total of 12 1-bedroom villas,12 hotel style rooms, 3 bars, conference center, swimming pool, a wooden deck overlooking the lagoon/waterway, we share with John Gbeseh Beach. John Gbeseh and other neighbors’ boats turns in front of our international style mini resort.

My wife and I, thought to bring back our experiences in luxury accommodation and entertainment at an affordable rate for the benefit of our people on the continent, particularly Liberia. We also have a soon to be completed 4-bedroom property in queens park west, #20 Conway RD, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, which will be on Airbnb for our clients in that area. Both my wife and I have a background in Occupational Health and Safety (HSE) a designation we achieved in Alberta, Canada. We ‘ve worked over 16 years in some, if not all of the oil-sand mining sites in Northern Alberta, especially in the Fort McMurray area.

We first started out with IB Tours, a tours and transportation company we started in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe with a luxury 57-seater bus that ran between Bulawayo and Harare for a period of 6 months. Once back in Canada we formed and registered our company (IBN Training and Safety Consultancy LTD.), focusing on occupational health and safety and training in the oil-sands, in the oil and gas industry.

Based on the success of our safety company, we decided to open and register another division of the IBN brand (IBN Exclusive Sports Wear). Today IBN have grown into a group of companies with over 14 divisions in 5 different countries in Africa (Liberia, Zimbabwe, DRC, South Africa & Botswana) and Canada respectively. IBN stands for Idah+Benjamin+Ngungkpan.

IBN RIA FARM-Is the single most important project, we are trying to kick start next year (2023). 90 acres of farmland in Bong-Mines, lower Bong-County. We believe that African collaboration, expertise, and agriculture will help the continent increase food production and feed its people. RIA is the abbreviation for Mariah, my wife’s late mother, who raised a wonderful daughter as a petty trader. Therefore, we will be having farmers coming to help with their expertise on the farm from many countries, starting with Zimbabwean farmers, formerly known as the breadbasket of Africa.
